Superb and rare set of objects that belonged to the Major of the Paratroopers Walter Gerike, the set includes his Officer“s schirmmutze, boxed paratrooper badge, book on "Creta", photocopy of his photo but authenticated at the bottom, including booklet with his memories of the Italian frount, all items are in good condition, complete in all their parts not restored or repaired, but with a patina of time and use. The privately made schirmmutze carries the celluloid label with the name of the manufacturer and the tag with the name of the Officer Gerike inside; the parą badge is also in excellent condition with the patina of time and marked by C.E Junker-Berlin and complete with its box; the book on the Crete countryside is named after Walter Gerike and is in excellent condition and complete in all its parts; also photocopy of a photo of him but with dedication and signature at the bottom; booklet of his memoirs of the Italian Campaign written in German linguage (Monterotondo, Italy 9.9.1943).
Major paratrooper Walter Gerike was born on 23.12.1907 in Germany and died on 19.10.1991.He was commander of the Falschirmjager-Regiment 11 4th Paratrooper Division which took part in the fighting on the Italian Front Battle of Anzio and Monterotondo previously took part in the Battle of Crete and after the end of the war he took leave of the rank of General Major of the Bunderswehr after commanding the 1st Luftlande-Division from 1962 to 1965. Rare and original 100% WWII period.
